The company

Edis Edizioni Specializzate has been serving the security and safety market for over 25 years as a qualified source of information and a platform for professional updating for all security-related operators.

Over the years it has developed into a complex organization based in Bologna (Italy) with departments in Milan. It has progressively created specific publications that have quickly attained leadership in the field of prevention, safety and security: essecome, TVCC, BiometriaTech, Fire&Smoke, Vigilanza e dintorni, essecome International Magazine and AirPort&Rail.

But the history of EDIS does not end with its magazines: the Group has also published yearbooks such as bankindex and securindex, operating manuals and a variety of other publications, some of which are included in the “biblioteca di essecome” (essecome library) and “Miniguide” series. Every initiative promoted by EDIS represents an effective platform for exchange as well as a vantage point for addressing the most challenging issues within the sector.

The year 2002 saw the launching of the www.securindex.com project, the first Italian portal dedicated to security, which now has become the virtual point of reference for the security field and all the security-related Institutions. Other web projects have followed: www.essecomeintl.com and www.biometriatech.com.

EDIS has also always provided a significant contribution to the growth of Italian manufacturers by organizing collective stands for Italian companies in specialized international exhibitions (under the headings of Sicuritalia and Immagine Italia) and promoting meetings and conferences both in Italy and abroad.

The departments

EDIS Training and Conference Division

EDIS Training and Conference is the division dedicated to vocational training and organization of events. An operating branch which has now become the Italian point of reference for the scientific and cultural growth within the sector.

Thanks to its experience and deep knowledge of problems and trends within the Italian security market, EDIS Training and Conference starts from the event plan to move then to the organization, realization and management of conferences, meetings, round tables, training workshops and other events aiming at sharing information and professional experiences, also in collaboration with institutional, internationally prominent partners.

Through this division, EDIS offers a platform for debate, vocational and scientific training, dialogue with Institutions, lobbying actions as well as trade and networking among companies and international markets, with the aim to promote business thanks to the exhibition area and other tailor-made marketing opportunities. B2B and B2C events address the sectors of prevention, security, valuables in transit, private security services and transports.

EDIS Image & Web

EDIS Image & Web is the division engaged in the integrated design and development of supports for communication: from the creative concept to marketing strategy, from advertising to the web. Internet projects are followed from the start-up to search engine positioning.

Thanks to its dynamism, analysis ability and collaboration with strategic partners, EDIS Image & Web is capable of offering tailor-made solutions, even at the supranational level for those who ambitiously want to take up the international challenge by advertising in foreign media.

The Magazines

Essecome

A monthly magazine focusing on security-related technologies, applications and issues. It has always stood out for its original editorial approach, which has made it a sort of industry opinion leader.

Technological and regulatory updates, comments and opinions, provocations and curious facts, coverage of events and trade fairs, market analyses, case histories, solutions, insights from experts and views of the main industry players: these are the contents of the magazine which also incorporates the vertical topics of TVCC, biometrics, building automation and fire&smoke. At present essecome is the only industry magazine with certified circulation (CSST n. 2005-1149 dated February 16 th, 2006).

The theme sections of essecome:

  • TVCC was the first Italian magazine to specialise exclusively in the problems and applications of closed-circuit television systems. Today, as a section of essecome, TVCC offers an extensive overview of the technical solutions proposed by manufacturers, reports, experiences and case histories, opinions and interviews of leading personalities.

  • BMS – Building Management System is the section of essecome dedicated to automation integrated management system (Building Management System), which by now has become essential for many types of properties (shopping centres, offices, hospitals, museums and hotels). The BMS section illustrates key technologies and methods for implementing a truly “open and interoperable” system through technical articles, interviews with leading figures in the sector and case histories. A building automation for everybody.

  • Biometriatech is the section of essecome dedicated to the fascinating topic of biometrics. Among the segments composing the prevention and security sector, biometrics is destined to play an increasingly significant role: BiometriaTech includes technical articles, case histories, interviews, editorials focusing on products and a thick section dedicated to regulation.

  • Fire & Smoke is a section intended as a “guide” for designers, professionals and end users of fire-fighting products. A scientific committee selects the most relevant topics, which are then published in an easy-to-read format to simplify the professional updating process.

Airport & Rail

Airport & Rail

AirPort & Rail AirPort & Rail security, logistic and IT magazine is the first Italian magazine entirely dedicated to the world of airports, railways and ports.

It covers an extremely wide array of topics, ranging from basic safety and security issues to logistics, information technology, cargo and goods handling, passenger control, standards and regulations, the labour market, credit, insurance and personnel training, news and much more on land, air, sea and inter-modal transport.

Vigilanza e dintorni

A bi-monthly magazine which has become the point of reference for the private security sector in Italy. It addresses the vast realm of private security services, i.e. the whole set of activities which may be conducted within the private sphere to support, complement or complete the efforts of the Authorities in terms of public or primary security. Vigilanza e dintorni offers a broad overview about issues, laws (Italian and foreign), market and players characterising the world of private security today and as it constantly evolves. Vigilanza e dintorni is thus a technical magazine embracing current affairs, comments and in-depth analysis.

Essecome International Magazine

Published entirely in English, after 15 years of “life in print” it has moved on to a more modern online version, which may be viewed at the website www.essecomeintl.com. Yet, it continues to be an effective tool to make oneself known, to export, distribute or consolidate one’s image abroad. Moreover, on the occasion of major trade exhibitions free printed monographic numbers are issued and distributed during the days of the exhibition.

The Yearbooks

Securindex Green Pages

Securindex was created in 1990, it is updated on a yearly basis and now it represents an important and consolidated working tool. It is bilingual (Italian and English) and it is distributed for free both in Italy and abroad.

Internet

Securindex.com

Securindex.com is the first independent portal completely dedicated to the Italian security sector. In a few years it has become an undisputed point of reference on the web in the security field.

But www.securindex.comis also an important showcase for those who offer products and solutions. Such a tool leads to amazing synergies promoting increase in business and the quality of the corporate image, while enabling each company to preserve its unique identity and features.

www.securindex.com also means a powerful search engine, links with major associations and related organizations, highly popular weekly newsletter, the “application” section, the virtual trade fair with hundreds of products, the “professionals” category where thousands of companies of the sector can be found as well as news updated on a daily basis, a review of the best articles published and various spaces for promotion and information.
